CHAIKA, a 9-year old castrated Alaskan husky male, is an experienced professional sled dog and safari leader. Chaika’s job is to teach both the mushers and dogs. We appreciate Chaika greatly and he constantly runs in the lead.
REMU, a 7-year old male Siberian husky, moved into Trailwinds’ from Extreme Action kennel in winter of 2016. Remu runs all positions, but due to his size is often placed into wheel to power up the team. Remu has a great personality and is a steady performer in harness. Remu has a REK2-rated performance from a race and due to his great looks has also earned a certificate from a dog show.
POJU, a 5-year old castrated male Siberian husky, became a part of the Trailwinds team in autumn of 2015. Poju has fathered a litter of seven born on April 14th, 2016, of which Esko, Mokka, and Liekki currently run with our team. Poju is an independent personality and usually runs in the lead. He was castrated in summer 2017 and has since earned his spot in the lead as a dependable leader. He is a steady performer. Poju has achieved REK3-rated performance from Hangover 2017 dryland IFSS World Cup event.
ESKO is a male Siberian husky of the litter born on April 14th, 2016, from Windy and Poju. He has an even temperament and is a steady runner with good endurance. He likes to seek contact and is a very pleasant and easygoing. Esko has achieved REK3-rated performance from Hangover 2017 dryland IFSS World Cup event.
MOKKA is a female Siberian husky of the litter born on April 14th, 2016, from Windy and Poju. She is very calm and independent and has shown leadership potential from an early age. Recently she, along with her father Poju, led our four dog team to REK3-rated performance in Hangover 2017 dryland IFSS World Cup event.
LIEKKI is a female Siberian husky of the litter born on April 14th, 2016, from Windy and Poju. Liekki is very playful and active, as well as quite loud. She has a tremendous drive to go forwards and she runs very fast. Liekki is usually running in a team position and has achieved REK3-rated performance from Hangover 2017 dryland IFSS World Cup event.
WINDY, a 4-year old female Siberian husky, became part of the Trailwinds team in spring of 2014 and was our first dog with a sleddog sports background. Windy is the mother of the litter of seven born on April 14th, 2016, of which Mokka, Liekki, and Esko run with us. Windy is capable of working in any position in the team but usually runs in team position. She is a calm, pleasing personality. She has received a grade of Very Good from a dog show.
RITU, a female Siberian husky, is the team mascot, unlicensed therapy dog, promoweasel (a.k.a social media rep), who is more at home on the sofa than on the trails. Ritu appreciates the little things in life, like sleeping on the couch. She is very confident and can run even in the lead. Due to her amazing good looks, she has done very well in shows and has been awarded with a SERT and CACIB.
